When Paint walks into the arena, everyone can’t help but notice his flashy coloring. This recent addition to the gang at
CKRH stands out in a crowd! He was spotted a few years back by the general manager of Cobra Farm, Jeanne Cox- Owens, on a farm manager’s trail ride. Someone else was riding him, and I thought he looked so quiet. I thought he would be a great trail horse for guests to ride at Cobra Farm, says Jeanne. He was only three so I sent him off for 90 days training at a local reining barn. When he returned to Cobra Farm, he quickly became a farm favorite. He’s just a doll, says Jeanne. Everyone loved him here. If you walked into the barn he would talk to you. He has quite a personality. After a while Jeanne realized that Paint wasn’t getting ridden very much, and she decided that as he was young and healthy he needed something to do He was so calm, I thought he might be suitable for CKRH. The program needed some bigger horses and I thought he’d be perfect Paint didn’t have far to travel the Kentucky Horse Park is only a five-minute drive from Cobra Farm. Today, Paint is a reliable mount for CKRH riders who need little supervision and who can ride by themselves off the lead rope. He maneuvers his way through cones and over poles with ease and gives his riders loads of confidence.
