The Sensory Connection - April 2-3, 2011 |
| This 2 day course is designed to provide and facilitate a problem solving treatment approach which applies sensory integration theory, reviews neuro-anatomy, explores sensory based challenging behaviors, discusses horse selection and use of the environment in HPOT and EAT treatment sessions. This course will cover Evaluation tools which may be used to determine sensory processing disorders and the interventions which address the patient's impairments and functional limitations. This course will demonstrate how to incorporate HPOT into the patient's overall treatment plan to address functional outcomes. Participants will engage in hand-on sensory and sensory motor experiences and activities set up in a group format to enhance clinical reasoning to guide the development of treatment planning and intervention strategies for the patient with sensory processing disorder in the hippotherapy setting. Videos of children with challenging behaviors that are the result of sensory processing difficulties will be presented and discussed |

Level I Equine Skills - July 7- 8, 2011 |
This 1.5 day, hands-on, course targets therapists and assistants with minimal to no horse experience in nonmounted equine skills. Participants will work with horses in teams of two or three, with close supervision and assistance allowing an opportunity for demonstration, practice and individualized feedback and instruction.

Level I Hippotherapy Treatment Principles - July 8- 10, 2011 |
This 2 1/2 day course is designed for entry level therapists utilizing hippotherapy as a treatment strategy and those in or working with hippotherapy teams. Hands on practicums are available in this course. It can be attended by graduate physical, occupational, speech therapists. Horse handlers and riding instructors.
